The CS520 is compatible with any Cisco desk phone including the Cisco 7942. To answer calls while away from the phone you will also need the AL10 handset lifter in the related items on the product page.

i understand it says compatible with all phones but before i make this purchase and deal with it NOT working and the hassle of returning it- id like to make sure this will work with a Cisco, model CP 8811 office phone as my boss states these phones require special and expensive add ons. as long as this will link i do not mind paying out of pocket myself? THANK YOU

Yes, any of our wireless headsets will work with your Cisco model. You may also consider adding the handset lifter for answering/ending calls away from your phone.
